Chun Na Muir, 2025
Clay, bamboo, iron oxide, spirulina, reeds, surgical wire, resin, hessian scrim, peat.
A series of excavated clay topographies preserved in resin, embedded with site-specific organic materials foraged from Glen Clova (Angus, Scotland) and the Lye Valley (Oxford). The surfaces of the four-legged totems are inscribed with Ogham (an early Celtic writing system) and respond to an imaginative reconstruction of the histories of female crofters in Glen Clova, Naiya’s ancestral site. Chun Na Muir engages with memory as an active process of gathering and building, where the stories we tell may eventually sink back into the earth.
